This Is How Our Customers Traveled in 2024!
Our clients were on the move! In 2024, they explored a total of 219 countries and territories around the globe. Naturally, we got curious: Which destinations were the most popular? How long were they traveling? And who exactly is our "average" visitor?
We took a closer look at the statistics. Here’s what we discovered:
Where Did Our Clients Travel the Most?
An analysis of the travel data from 12,220 individuals who sought travel advice at the Travel Clinic UZH (ZRM for short) in 2024 confirms Indonesia as the most popular destination. With 870 trips, the Southeast Asian archipelago tops the list. However, the race for first place was close: Thailand came in second with 864 trips. Vietnam ranks third with 631 trips, while Tanzania and Brazil secured fourth and fifth places with 590 and 504 trips, respectively.
Which Vaccines Did We Administer the Most?
Of the 63,179 vaccines administered at the Travel Clinic UZH in 2024, 14, 289 were Rabipur vaccines (rabies). The TBE vaccine followed in second place with 8,073 doses, and yellow fever vaccines ranked third with 5,548 doses. Vaccines against Hepatitis A and Diphtheria/Pertussis/Polio/Tetanus took fourth and fifth places, respectively.
How Long Were Our Clients Traveling?
Most clients traveled for 21 days, and a full 11.9% visited at least five countries during their trips.
How Many Countries Did They Visit on Average?
"Quality over quantity" seemed to be the motto for most of our clients in 2024: Two-thirds (65%) limited their travels to one or two countries. Nonetheless, almost 12% packed their bags for five or more destinations!
What Does Our Average Client Look Like?
The most common profile was that of a 31-year-old woman who spent three weeks traveling in Indonesia.
Which Countries/Territories Were Not Visited by ZRM Clients in 2024?
Out of the vast number of countries worldwide, our clients skipped only six: Ukraine, Belarus, Sudan, North Korea, Slovakia, and Sweden. While the first four are no surprise, we wonder about Slovakia and Sweden: Who would willingly pass up cinnamon buns and a hike through Slovakia’s castle landscapes?
No matter where you traveled, we are proud and grateful to have been part of your preparations. With that in mind, we wish you a wonderful start to the new year and all the best for 2025!
