Quick overview – billing from 2026
As of 1 January 2026, vaccinations in accordance with the Swiss Vaccination Plan and the associated medical vaccination counselling will be billed through compulsory health insurance (KVG) and will be exempt from the deductible (franchise).
Travel consultations and travel vaccinations will remain self-pay services.
Depending on the combination of services, you will receive one or two invoices. This is compliant with legal requirements and advantageous for many patients, as more services are covered by health insurance.
Please bring your Swiss health insurance card to your appointment.

New from 2026: Changes to billing for vaccinations and consultations
Background
As of 1 January 2026, Switzerland will introduce the new medical tariff system TARDOC. This system maps services in a more differentiated and transparent way than before.
In future, vaccinations in accordance with the Swiss Vaccination Plan will be billed separately from travel-related services. As a result, more services will be covered directly by health insurance, and billing will become more transparent.
This change also pursues a public health objective:
The vaccination rate in the population is to be increased by making recommended vaccinations easier to access and removing financial barriers.

In brief
-
Vaccinations in accordance with the Swiss Vaccination Plan and the associated vaccination counselling will now be billed via the compulsory health insurance (KVG).
-
These vaccinations are now exempt from the deductible (franchise). Customers will only have to pay the usual 10% co-payment.
-
Travel consultations and travel vaccinations will remain self-pay services.
-
Depending on the combination of services, you will receive one or two invoices.
For many patients, this means that more services will be covered by health insurance than before.
How does billing work in practice?
Self-pay services
Self-pay services, such as:
-
Travel consultation
-
Travel vaccinations
will continue to be paid directly by you.
Payment is possible by:
-
debit or credit card
-
invoice
- twint
Services covered by compulsory health insurance (KVG)
Services covered by Swiss health insurance will now be transmitted directly to your health insurer.
These include:
-
Vaccinations in accordance with the Swiss Vaccination Plan
-
The associated medical vaccination counselling
For these services, you will receive a copy of the invoice that is sent directly to your health insurer.
Important for your appointment
Please be sure to bring your Swiss health insurance card to your appointment.
Only then can we send the invoice for KVG-covered services directly to your health insurer.
Because the different services are financed differently, it is very likely that you will receive two invoices:
-
One invoice that you pay yourself (self-pay services)
-
One invoice that is sent to your health insurer (KVG services)
Why are two invoices correct?
Different services are subject to different legal regulations:
-
Medically recommended vaccinations in accordance with the Swiss Vaccination Plan are billed to the health insurer.
-
Travel-related services (e.g. travel consultation) are considered self-pay services.
This separation is required by law and ensures transparency, fairness and correct billing.
Practical example
You come for a travel consultation and also receive a TBE (tick-borne encephalitis) vaccination (recommended in accordance with the Swiss Vaccination Plan).
Billing from 2026:
-
Health insurance (KVG):
TBE vaccination including vaccination counselling
(exempt from the deductible, invoice sent directly to your health insurer) -
Self-pay:
Travel consultation and any travel vaccinations, if applicable
Your benefit:
Part of your appointment will now be covered by health insurance—services that previously had to be paid entirely out of pocket.
Final note
Two invoices do not mean additional costs for you. They reflect correct, transparent and advantageous billing in line with the legal requirements.
If you have any questions about billing, we will be happy to assist you personally at any time.
People without Swiss health insurance
If you do not have Swiss health insurance or cannot present a health insurance card, all services will be billed as self-pay services.
In this case, payment is made directly by you (e.g. by credit card or invoice). We will be happy to inform you transparently in advance about the costs that will apply.
