TBE (tick-borne encephalitis) is a viral disease transmitted by ticks. If the virus is transmitted, a small number of patients can develop meningitis, paralysis and sensory disturbances.
The best prevention against TBE is vaccination, which is why the TBE vaccination is recommended for all persons over the age of six throughout Switzerland - except in Ticino and Geneva. In addition to vaccination, protection with tick spray and wearing long clothing are also important.
And remember: ticks are no longer only found in forests, but also in bushes in the city and in your own garden.
